Woodlawn Funeral Home Obituaries

Loida Riguis Weaver , Age: 67
March 02, 1956 - May 24, 2023

In loving memory of Loida Riguis Weaver, the life of the party, who passed away on May 24, 2023, after her four-year battle with cancer. Loida, the heart and soul of her family, brought endless joy and laughter to all who knew her. With a buzzing energy that never waned, she couldn't sit still. Whether she was meticulously cleaning, tending to her beautiful lawn, or shopping until she dropped, Loida embraced life with an unstoppable spirit.

Loida Riguis Weaver was born on March 2, 1956, in Sarret, Illocas Norte, PI, to her loving parents, Pascual and Josephine Riguis. She embarked on a remarkable journey that took her from the Philippines to Honolulu, Hawaii, where she pursued her passion for food science. Loida graduated with a B.S. in Food Science from Gregorio Araneta University in Manila, PI, on October 20, 1979. Her career flourished as she worked for esteemed companies like Golden Harvest Food Corporation and Liwayway Marketing Corporation in Manila, PI, and later joined Meadow Gold Dairies in Honolulu, HI, and the Hawaii Department of Health in Kahului, HI.

During her time in Hawaii, fate brought Loida together with the love of her life, Larry Weaver. On September 20, 1987, they embraced a lifelong journey of love and adventure. Together, they raised two remarkable daughters, Dr. Stacy Weaver Tyrrell and Dr. Tara Weaver Zacharias. While Loida was a brilliant scientist, her most significant achievement was the love and guidance she poured into her daughters' lives. She was always there, enthusiastically volunteering for countless school activities, creating cherished memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.

For the past decade, Loida accompanied her husband, Larry, on numerous food conventions, where she shared her expertise and led talks on food safety. Her passion for ensuring the well-being of others extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of countless individuals in the industry. Her dedication and knowledge made a lasting impact, earning her respect and admiration among her peers.

In the cherished moments shared within her daughter's home, Loida's grandson would eagerly grab a broom and a rag, mimicking his beloved grandma's cleaning routine. She possessed an innate ability to create an atmosphere of warmth and tidiness wherever she went. And though her daughters may be medical professionals, Loida's remedy for all ailments was simple: a back rub with Vicks Vapor Rub. Her unconventional wisdom and love knew no bounds. As she bids us farewell, she leaves us with her parting words, "be cool," a reminder to approach life with grace, even in the face of adversity.

Loved and cherished beyond measure, Loida's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her adoring family and friends. To honor her remarkable life, a viewing will be held at Woodlawn on June 19 from 12 pm to 4 pm, followed by funeral services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 20th at 10:00 AM. Immediately after, we will gather at Halen Hall for a joyful Celebration of Life, embracing the spirit of Loida and the laughter she brought to our lives.

Loida Riguis Weaver, a shining beacon of love and laughter, will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May her vibrant spirit forever inspire us to live life with joy, kindness, and an unyielding zest for every moment.

She was my former Boss’ wife and someone we enjoyed seeing for many years! Eatonville , Washington

Dear Larry & Family, We wish to give you our deepest condolences on your loss. Your wife was so fun to be around! We enjoyed all the times she would come with you to work and seeing her at the plant! My son enjoyed seeing her as well she was so good with children! She was always laughing and smiling! We haven’t been around in such a long time this came as a bit of a surprise as we did not know she had been unwell. I hope you and your family are able to find peace during this time. We will pray for you all.

Friend from our time in Hawaii (1988-1992) Meridian , Idaho

Loida, an angel here on Earth, has been promoted to an angel beyond this world! She will be missed by so many whose lives she has touched! She was an amazing person and you couldn't help but love her the instant you met! I miss the times we spent together in Hawaii and treasure her culture which she shared with us! I remember going to Waikiki more than once, to get a hold of a boatload of lumpia at some place that made the absolute best! I forget what it was called (maja blanca -maybe) - I want some now - she served us the first time we visited your apartment in Honolulu. Even though we have not seen each other for years, my heart aches, knowing the big hole she has left in so many lives! Love and hugs to you Larry, Stacy, Tara and family.
