In Loving Memory of Marie Carlota Rood

Marie Carlota Rood, a loving presence and source of warmth, peacefully entered eternal rest on
February 24, 2024, in Lacey, WA. Born on November 14, 1931, in Fontana, CA, Marie was the
cherished daughter of Marie and Vincent Moretti.

Marie's life journey began when she married Harold Rood on July 8, 1950. Together, they
embraced the joys and challenges of raising seven children, creating a home filled with laughter,
love, and shared experiences. Marie's dedication as a devoted mother extended beyond the
practicalities of life, nurturing a haven that reflected her compassionate and caring nature.

In December 1967, Marie and Harold relocated from Southern California to Lacey, WA, where
they continued to build a haven of love and togetherness. Marie's love extended not only to her
family but also to animals. Furry friends became cherished members of the household, a
testament to her compassionate nature.

Despite the demands of raising a large family, Marie found time to pursue her education,
earning her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minor in Art History from St. Martin’s
University in 1981. Her commitment to lifelong learning was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She went on to work for the North Thurston Public Schools and the State of Washington,
making an indelible mark of professionalism and dedication.

Throughout her life, Marie's unwavering love for her family was echoed by the profound support
she received from her own mother, Marie Moretti. This bond of love and encouragement shaped
Marie's character and sustained her through life's journey. The lessons of kindness, resilience,
and familial devotion she inherited from her mother became the guiding light of her own
nurturing spirit.

In addition to her roles as a loving mother and professional, Marie had a passion for travel,
exploring new destinations with an adventurous spirit. Her love for reading added a layer to her
intellectual curiosity, finding solace and inspiration in books that broadened her perspective and
fueled her imagination.

Marie was also an active member of the National Organization for Women, demonstrating her
commitment to gender equality and leaving a positive impact on her community.

While Marie's life was shaped by her Catholic roots, she embraced a broader spirituality that
transcended any one faith. Her kindness, compassion, and dedication to family and community
were universal virtues that touched the lives of those around her.

Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold Rood, her brother Vincent Moretti,
son-in-law Mark Larsen, daughter-in-law Pam Rood, and nephew Larry Carter. She leaves
behind a legacy of love, kindness, resilience, and a passion for life, survived by her children
David Rood, Michael Rood and wife Kim, Jeff Rood and wife Sharon, Geralyn Larsen, Harold
Rood Jr., Theresa Clark, Stephen Rood and wife Nancy, along with 16 grandchildren and 7
great-grandchildren.

Marie is also survived by her brother Anthony Moretti, sister-in-law Pat Moretti, and sister-in-law
Joann Renfroe, all of whom shared in the warmth of her spirit.

Marie's memory will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her gentle presence.
She will be remembered for her kindness, love for family, adventurous spirit, intellectual
curiosity, and the little joys she brought to those around her. May she find eternal peace.
