Rick (Fredric Charles) Meyer, age 80, passed away on the evening of Sept. 5th, 2023, after suffering a
heart attack, while on a boat cruise with friends to Alaska. He was born July 19th, 1943, in Fresno, CA, to
parents Dolly B (Brown) and Chuck (Charles) Meyer. He is survived by his wife Karen A Meyer (born
Carlton), sisters Claudia P Lubin (husband Brian) of Bozeman, MT and Tina M Meyer of Olympia, sons
Jeff of Seattle and Sean (wife Christy) of Boise, sister-in-law Debbie Meyer, as well as his aunt Ginnie
Wilkinson, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,
brother Terry Meyer and son Rob Meyer.
Rick graduated from Olympia High in 1961. While working for the Olympia Parks dept. he attended
Centralia Community College, got his associate degree in business, then began working at Washington
State Employees Credit Union. At some point he began working for Joe and Joanie McReynolds in their
accounting practice, and then in 1975 started his own practice, which he continued until his retirement.
He also worked at officiating junior high and high school football and basketball and worked as the
assigning secretary for South Sound Officials Association.
In his free time Rick was an avid sports fan and loved the Seahawks, Huskies and Mariners. He also loved
to spend time outside golfing, hunting and fishing. Rick spent over 30 years in the Olympia area playing
fast pitch softball for several teams and made numerous friends throughout the years. For those of you
that knew Rick you knew how much he loved to tend his yard and garden.
Rick’s service will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home (5930 Mullen Rd SE, Lacey, WA 98503) on
Thursday September 28th, 2023. There will be a closed casket viewing from 11am-12pm, followed by a
graveside service. Immediately after the service you are all invited to Rick’s Celebration of Life at Jacob
Smith House in Lacey (4500 Intelco Loop SE, Lacey, WA 98503). Rick’s Celebration of Life will be a pot-
luck event, please bring your favorite dish! In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your
choice.
