John R. Schwiesow, 95, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2023, of
natural causes.
John was born on March 25, 1928 to John and Almira (Kawelmacher) Schwiesow
in Centralia, WA.
John is survived by his daughters Lorie (Glen) Wharton, Sheryl (Byron) Windle,
Connie (Tom) Monroe, Sandy (Jim) McDaniel, 13 grandchildren, 32 great
grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, sister-in-law Phyllis Schwiesow,
numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his
parents, brothers Alan and Earl, sister Lois Oster, wife Carmen, daughter Marie,
and granddaughter Shelly.
John grew up in Centralia where he attended school. John married Carmen in
1960. They moved to the Tumwater area in 1962 and to Lacey in 1971.
He served in WWII in the 5 th Photo Recon, 13 th Army Air Corps and the Korean war
from September 1946 to September 1949.
John was a member of the Shelton Elks and served as Exalted Ruler Twice. He was
also a member of the Yuma Arizona Elks. He loved to collect coins, play golf, ride
his motorcycle, travel in his motorhome, and play games on his tablet. Until
recently, he spent his winters in Arizona with Carmen.
He was a carpenter and retired in 1983, he was employed by Schwiesow
Construction.
