Woodlawn Funeral Home Obituaries

Charline Feeser , Age: 91
November 01, 1931 - January 08, 2023

Charline was born to parents Charles and Thelma Mitchell, and raised in Springfield, OH, along with her older sister Ardyth.  Charline sang in the church choir, was a proud and active Girl Scout, played the piano, studied ballet and loved music.  She met and married Charles (Dick) Feeser, and after he graduated from Ohio University in 1957, they embarked on a cross country move to Coronado, CA, tent camping the whole way in their new Volkswagen Bug. Char worked as an executive secretary in San Diego, as she had previously in OH.  In 1959 the Feesers bought a brand new home in Spring Valley, CA.  It was here that their children (Shawn and Andrea) were lovingly raised, and where Charline lived happily for over 60 years (Dick having lived there until his passing in 1997).  She truly treasured her neighbors and the deep friendships they built.  Besides her most treasured role as “Mom”, one of Char’s greatest joys was becoming part of the Helix High School family, first as a teacher/coach’s wife, and later as an Attendance and then Counseling secretary (1978 - ‘89).

Char loved many things - entertaining (and holiday decorating!), camping, fishing, music (Big Band and especially Jazz), dancing and traveling. She had the opportunity to finally really travel the US with her companion Bob Stapp, and spent many holidays happily celebrating with his family.  Char was the Queen of Accessories and was always the best dressed woman in the room.  But what she loved best was doing for her family, friends, and neighbors.  Char  loved readily, generously, and without reservation. She spread joy and kindness wherever she went, and her gentle giving ways taught us all valuable lessons about grace, family, loyalty, and faith. She was frequently funny, loved to laugh, and could be a little sassy - which only added to her charm.  She was everybody’s favorite Mom and Grandma, and her smile could absolutely light up a room. She made everyone who came into her sphere feel welcomed and valued.

Char passed away peacefully on January 8, 2023, from dementia and complications from a previous stroke.  She was surrounded by her children and their families.  There will be no formal service, but the family will gather in July for the internment of her ashes, joining Dick’s, near their property in MT.  She is survived by her son Shawn Feeser and wife Shari; her daughter Andrea (Feeser) Baumgartner and husband Fred;  and her grandchildren Julia (Feeser) York and husband Clifford, Spencer Baumgartner and his wife Michi,  and her “adopted” granddaughter Molly Hough and husband Correy Glynn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Charline was our beloved aunt and the last of my parents generation. Charline and her smile will be sorely missed. We are just sorry that we have not been able to visit in person with her for such a long time. Just know that she was a loving mother and aunt.
