Woodlawn Funeral Home Obituaries

Lois Nevitt , Age: 96
January 15, 1926 - December 29, 2022

Lois Thelma Nevitt, age 96, of Bothell, Washington, peacefully passed away on
December 29, 2022.
Born in Tacoma, Washington on January 15, 1926, she lived in Roy, Washington until
the age of 11, then in Chehalis, Washington through high school. Lois married her high
school sweetheart, Clarence Rayton, on December 16, 1945 and moved with him to
Raymond, Washington. Married for over 14 years, Lois and Clarence planned to build a
home near Westport, Washington, where Clarence was the skipper on one of his father-
in-law’s fishing boats. Sadly, before they could follow through with the new house plans,
Clarence tragically died at sea while crabbing aboard the Frank L. III fishing boat when
it capsized off the mouth of Grays Harbor.
Lois’ next marriage was to Mac MacDonald on April 12, 1962. Mac was a
physician/radiologist with offices in Raymond, Olympia and Forks, Washington. They
lived in Raymond, Washington and were married for 13 years before divorcing in 1975.
For about 30 years, Lois worked at the Raymond PUD, first as an accountant and then
as their Head Auditor. She met Olney Nevitt, her third and final husband, while working
at the PUD. Married on June 14, 1976, they remained a couple until Olney’s death in
2003. Olney was the true love of Lois’ life. They were very compatible and did
everything together.
Lois and Olney lived in Raymond until 1983. Then, after Olney retired from teaching and
Lois retired from the PUD, they moved to the Vista Village retirement community in
Lacey, Washington. Soon they bought an RV and became snowbirds, dividing their time
between Vista Village and the Palm Springs area (Cathedral City).
Lois and Olney became seasoned travelers, visiting every state in the continental U.S.
and every province in Canada. They had lots of RV buddies, with whom they frequently
traveled to Mexico.
Lois loved being outdoors, working in her yard, foraging for mushrooms, and clamming
all along the Washington coastline. At Vista Village, she and Olney had a garden space,
played bingo at the clubhouse (where Lois called numbers), and enjoyed organizing
Saturday morning pancake breakfasts. Both loved music and live theatre, often traveling
to the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon.
A memorial service will be held for Lois at 1 p.m. on January 16, 2023, at Woodlawn
Funeral Home, 5930 Mullen Rd. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
