Woodlawn Funeral Home Obituaries

Larry `John` Dixon , Age: 78
July 25, 1944 - October 11, 2022

Larry 'John' Dixon, age 78, died October 11, 2022 in Olympia Wa. John was born July 25, 1944 in
Aberdeen Washington to Lawrence Charles and Ruth Marie Dixon. He grew up in Grayland Washington,
a few blocks from the ocean beach, on a cranberry bog, where he, his parents and sisters, Karen and Pat,
farmed Cranberries for the Ocean Spray Co Op.
As a teen growing up in Grayland and Aberdeen Washington, John joined the car club Piston
Pushers of Grayland and spent many nights cruising the harbor with lifelong friends, John Salick and Jack
Bailey to name a few. John developed a lifelong passion for classic cars, sports cars, antique cars and
especially hotrods. Building hot rods and frequenting car shows and rod runs became a lifelong passion
that he shared with his friends and family.
John joined the United States Army National Guard where he worked in the transportation unit
and earned the rank of Lieutenant. He also was a proud member of the UA plumbers and pipefitters
union local 82, which later merged to local 26. He was proud to have lead construction crews on some
of the largest construction projects in the nation.
It was at the Dairy Queen in Aberdeen Wa, where he met the love of his life Mildred “Linda”
Davis, whom he married on February 6, 1971. John and Linda moved to Lacey Washington shortly after
marrying where they raised two daughters Wendy Lee Dixon-Ross and Kelly Dixon (Brian Dixon). Both
John and Linda were active loving grandparents to their four grandchildren Charlize Renae, John Marcus,
Danika Remy, and Sofia Mercedes. They spent many weekends at a canal front property at Ocean
Shores camping with the grandkids.
John is preceded in death by his wife, who passed earlier this year after 52 years of marriage. John
and Linda were one of those rare couples, with a genuine fairytale-like love story filled with mutual love,
respect, and adoration. Their love for each other radiated to everyone around them.

John was a truly wonderful man. He and Linda were an amazing, loving couple. I was so fortunate to have known them. While I will miss them both dearly, I am comforted by the abundance of cherished memories they left me. Rest In Peace John Dixon.
