The last family owned funeral home in Thurston County.

    Marilyn married Clifford Virgil Bowles September 9, 1962 in Miami, Oklahoma.  They made their home in Salina, Kansas where they welcomed a son Jon and daughter Suzanne to their family.  She and Clifford worked for the Salina Journal until moving to Washington in 1969.

 

    They settled in Lacey, Washington where they welcomed their third child, Michael.  Marilyn fell in love with Mount Rainier, Puget Sound, the Pacific Ocean, Seattle's Pike Place Market and eventually the Seahawks. Marilyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish where she volunteered and made many friends who supported her through difficult times. She was employed as a typesetter by the Washington State Department of Printing until her early retirement in 1992 after the unexpected loss of her husband.

 

    Her life was centered around her Catholic faith and her family.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was generous to a fault, always taking care of others before herself and treating everyone she met with love and compassion.  

 

    Surviving Marilyn are sons Jon of Olympia, Michael (Yvonne) of Lacey, daughter Suzanne Krauss (Jay) of North Bend, WA, 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, sons Mark and Clifford, and grandson Caleb.
