Woodlawn Funeral Home Obituaries

Yvonne Ione Rinker , Age: 96
December 16, 1925 - July 20, 2022

Yvonne Ione Rinker, at 96 years old, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 20, 2022.
She was a resident of Olympia, Washington for over 60 years. She was born on December 16, 1925 in Tacoma,
Washington. She was the oldest of four children. She worked as a telephone operator for several years and as
a bookkeeper for many more years. On December 23, 1941 she married her loving husband Robert (Bob) L. Rinker.
They had two children together, a son and a daughter. They were happily married for 62 years before the Lord
called him home on March 23, 2004. He was her one and only true love, a very caring and loving Christian
husband and father.

Mother was always so strong and full of energy. She really enjoyed swimming and water skiing and at one time
dived into a pool (fully clothed) to save her young grandson from drowning. Mother had a love for music;
playing her piano (often with her father and daughter playing their violins with family members singing along,
and our father playing the harmonica) was one of her favorite things to do. She also played piano and organ at
church for several years and really enjoyed the Christian fellowship and lasting friendships. Cooking and baking
was a love and passion for her as well that brought family and friends together; and everyone agreed, her
homemade meals were so delicious. Mother also enjoyed the great times she had playing games around the dining
room table with everyone. She really loved to read, especially reading and studying God's Word faithfully every
morning; it gave her strength and comfort for each day. (I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13)

She is survived by her son, Gerald (Jerry) R. Rinker and daughter, Cheryl L. Quam; and four grandchildren: Natalie
Abrams, Kraig Rinker, Kyle Rinker, and Jason Quam; and five great grandchildren: Joshua Abrams, Brandon Abrams,
and Christina Countryman, Jessica Rinker, and Sam Rinker; and eight great great grandchildren: MaKenna Abrams,
Petra Abrams, Lyla Abrams, Luke Abrams, Cody Grayson Countryman, Avery Countryman, Jameson Countryman and Amelia
Rose Abrams. She is also survived by her two sisters, Vivienne Hammer and Maureen Carson.

Notes mother wrote: My eager desire and hope, that I may never feel ashamed, (in this life or when
I come into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ). So now Christ shall be magnified in my body - that
I may do honor to Christ in my own person, whether it be by life or death, or by fearless courage.
For me to live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:20-21

Aunt Vonnie was an elegant lady and her laughter was infectious. She and Uncle Bob were a lot of fun. I am sorry they are both gone now but they will always be a part of our family. Love to you all.
