Mary Monti , Age: 63
November 21, 1958 - March 06, 2022

Mary Monti of Lacey, 63, unexpectedly and peacefully passed away in her sleep the morning of
March 6 th , 2022, in Selah, Washington, at the home of her son, Colton. She was born the fourth
of six daughters to James and Shirley Johnson in Bremerton, Washington on November 21 st ,
1958. She celebrated her marriage to Chuck on June 14 th , 1980. They remained happily married
until her passing.
Mary is survived by her husband, Chuck, and her 4 children: Destiny, Colton (Taryn), Chase, and
Cadence. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren: Sadey, Savanna, Brooklyn, Cooper, and
Cason, as well as countless friends and loved ones.
She was a woman of deep and devout faith who strived to live a saintly life that embodied
grace, love, hope and virtue. She was a selfless individual who sought to please God through
her prayer, acts of service and love of others.
Her most cherished childhood memories were adventures with her sisters when they lived on
Mud Bay. She loved to swim, explore tidelands, play board games and cards. She and her sisters
were kindred spirits and to this day remained the best of friends.
Mary deeply loved her beloved husband of over 40 years and relished in her role as a wife and
mother. She was kind, patient, caring, and gentle. She carried the deepest love for those closest
to her and sought to be a haven and source of comfort for all those placed in her path. She
loved unconditionally and loved people regardless of where they were in their own journey.
Her laughter was infectious, and nothing brought her more joy than having fun and spending
quality time with those she loved. Being a Nana to her five grandchildren was one of her
greatest joys in life.
She was a Homemaker, Schoolteacher, Manicurist and most recently, an Elementary School
Kitchen manager. She loved bringing a smile to the face of the children she served and will be
incredibly missed by the students and staff.
Over the course of the past ten years Mary battled through multiple significant health ailments.
She was a fighter and would never back down to any challenge or obstacle. She never
complained, instead finding a positive to every situation. She was a true inspiration to all of
those who watched her live and sacrifice for others.
Mary was an adventurer, a creative soul, a lover of life, and she worked tirelessly to make life’s
moments truly beautiful. Her passing will forever leave a hole in the hearts of those she loved
and touched.
Her final viewing and rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 16 th at 5:30 PM at Woodlawn
Cemetery (5930 Mullen Rd SE, Lacey, WA 98503). Her funeral mass will be held on March 17 th at
10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (812 Bowker St SE, Lacey, WA 98503) followed by a
celebration of her life at the Thurston County Expo Center (3054 Carpenter Rd SE, Lacey, WA
98503).
