The last family owned funeral home in Thurston County.

Jan Cabe, 76 years of age, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Bonaventure of Lacey.  She was a loving and caring person and will be deeply missed.

Jan was born on November 2, 1945 in Seattle, Washington to Rosemary Nichols and Glenn Rash.  Her early years were spent in Redmond, Washington and she had fond memories of spending time at her grandparent’s farm helping with farm chores and playing with her cousin Patti, sister Kathy and various friends.  While she primarily attended Issaquah schools, in her senior high school year she moved to Olympia where she graduated from North Thurston High School in 1964.  Jan worked in public service with the State of Washington’s Department of Personnel until her retirement.  After retirement, she moved to Hamilton, Montana with her late husband Dennis Gosney before returning to Olympia in 2017.

Jan had great love and concern for animals and volunteered for and donated to local animal shelters.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting friends and family for social gatherings.  She had a strong creative side and was an accomplished quilter.  She enjoyed travel, gardening and watching classic movies.

Jan is survived by her son Josh Nicholas, grandson Kai Nicholas, sister Kathy (Andy) Kollmer, cousin Patti Davis, niece Alissa Dewey and a host of other cousins and friends.
