John R.(Ronnie) Goms 75, passed away on March 1, 2022 in Olympia, WA. Ronnie is survived by his better half, Debra Atcher-Kirk of Lacey. His two daughters Tina Goms of Airway Heights, Dawnel Wallace of Donald, Oregon. His brother  Dennis Goms of Las Vegas; his sister, Linda Tollifson of Tacoma; eight grandchildren: 4 great grandchildren; various family members and many friends.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his two sons, John J. Goms and Eric R. Goms: his brother Larry Goms and both parents.

John was born on July 6, 1946 to the late John Carl and Mairemma Goms in Dallas, TX. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated San Fernando High School in 1964. He joined the Navy and served his country from 1966 to 1967 in Vietnam on board the USS Annapolis AGMR-1.

Ronnie is an accomplished graphic designer with his lettering and pin-stripping skills. He owned Got’cha’s Speed & Custom in Olympia/Lacey, WA. Racing was his passion, on the streets or at the track. He loved a good race and enjoyed the challenge. If he wasn’t racing he was talking about racing. Ronnie started a couple car clubs Race? and The Night Riders. He was the President of the Associated Car Clubs of Van Nuys. He won many trophies during his lifetime. Some for his graphic art on cars and other for racing. Ronnie raced at Riverdale, Bremerton, Pacific, Renegade and West End Thunder just to name a few. At Riverdale Raceway, when Ronnie wasn’t racing, he was the announcer at the track.

Ronnie had a great sense of humor and had the gift of gab. He spent lots of time on social media keeping in touch with old friends, making new friends and staying politically active. He will be missed by many.

March 30, 2022 there will be a funeral procession from Woodlawn Funeral Home Lacey, WA to Tahoma National Cemetery. Meeting at 10:30am and will depart at 11am. Tahoma National Cemetery – 18600 SE 240^th St. Kent, WA.
