Woodlawn Funeral Home Obituaries

Judith M. Anderson , Age: 73
October 30, 1948 - October 11, 2022

Judith was born on October 30 th , 1948 in Colon, Republic of Panama to Jose and Pauline Anderson (nee
Griffith). In the early morning on Tuesday October 11 th , 2022, she passed away surrounded by her
husband and immediate family. Judith was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister,
and friend to many. She came to the United States in 1978 to continue to build a good life for herself
and her two daughters. She was a Jill of all Trades starting off as a meat wrapper, worked in the medical
field but ultimately retired as a Correctional Officer for the Department of Corrections-Immigrations.
She met her spouse, Juan Anderson in 1981 while attending Seattle Central Community
College—introduced by a mutual friend. The pair is unique in that they both were from Panama, had the
same last name, and were born exactly one month apart. Juan fell in love with her because of her
fantastic cooking skills and because of her tenacity for life.
Judith was an excellent cook and baker bringing her family together many times for her meals made
with love. Family was one of the most important things to her besides making her faith as a Catholic a
priority. Another priority to Judith were her three great grandchildren: Anthony, Kamryn, and Jordyn.
Throughout her life prior to her health issues and even during she always made it known they were her
driving force to keep fighting.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Anderson; mother, Pauline Anderson; sister Virginia Hayes
Williams; sister Joan Anderson Griffith; and sister Marva Roach. She is survived by her spouse of 36
years, Juan Anderson; sister Lorraine Harrell, and brothers Joseph and Jose Anderson; daughter Tania
Thorne; daughter Janice Thorne; grandchildren Jamila Archer; Jazmin Thorne; Lexius Thorne; great
grands: Anthony Archer; Kamryn Archer; Jordyn Wren, and a host of nieces, nephews, & friends.
Describing who Judith was in a few words is very difficult because of who she was to so many people.
She was loving, kind, generous, reliable, caring, sincere, considerate, faithful, and most important of all
STRONG.

Accepting this one has been the most difficult. I don't know why I'm still in such denial. I know she is no longer in pain, but I'll definitely miss our long conversations over the phone. May you rest peacefully in paradise Tia. Forever in my heart!
