Woodlawn Funeral Home Obituaries

Alfred Eugene Price , Age: 77
July 31, 1944 - November 01, 2021

Alfred, 77 years old, passed away surrounded by family on October 26, 2021, in Providence St Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington. He was born on July 31st, 1944, to Benjamin and Carrie Estell (Turner) Price in Cowpens, South Carolina. In 1964, he joined the Unites States Air Force and served honorably until 1968.  After leaving the Air Force, Al was a surveyor/engineer and realtor. Al cherished his time living and working in Alaska surveying all over the state. In March 1979, Alfred married the love of his life, Gloria Irwin, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together, they raised six children – Allen, James, Cameron, Rolynda, Ginger and Candace.

Al loved the outdoors, it didn’t matter if he was in the mountains or the ocean. Settling in Washington was the perfect fit for him. He couldn’t wait for winter so he could go cross country skiing. Summer was a time for fly fishing. Being in the Air Force helped Al fulfill his love of airplanes and flying, and knew the history of flight. Al also had a passion for woodworking and woodturning, which delighted his family and friends. He was a founding member of Woodturning of Olympia. Al was a member of the LDS Church.

Al was a kind, thoughtful and generous man. He loved his family and caring for them. He was a good planner and organizer and was proud of his efforts and of the outcomes. Al loved his Carolina heritage and BBQ.

Al’s absence will be greatly felt by those who knew and love him.
